Cody Simms | StumbleUpon

Cody Simms is a versatile digital media and internet leader with strong background in product and platform who loves creating new avenues for content distribution and discovery and loves working on ideas that try to create a net positive impact in the world.

Since June 2012, Cody has served as Chief Product Officer at StumbleUpon in San Francisco. Previously, he spent seven years at Yahoo! in the Los Angeles area where he most recently was Vice President of Global Product Management for Yahoo!’s entertainment and lifestyles product portfolio around the world, including Yahoo! Movies, Yahoo! Music, Yahoo! TV, omg!, Shine, and Yahoo! Games.

Earlier in his career, Cody worked in product management capacities at The New York Times, Sprint, and NBC Internet. He taught at as adjunct lecturer at the University of Southern California’s Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism from 2007-2010, where he instructed graduate degree seekers on Internet entrepreneurialism, community, and social networking. He holds an MA in Transnational Communications and Global Media from Goldsmiths College, University of London, and is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of Kansas with a BA in history and East Asian languages, where he spent many years trying to learn Mandarin Chinese. Outside of StumbleUpon, Cody is an advisor to BigFrame, a leading media company and network for YouTube influencers. When he's not online, Cody can often be found in the Pacific Ocean on his surfboard, trying to make his Kansas family proud by actually catching some waves.
